Linux System Administrator

Job Title: Linux System Administrator 

Experience: 3 – 5 Years

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) in physical and virtual environments.

 

Monitor system performance and ensure system availability and reliability.

 

Apply OS patches and upgrades regularly, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.

 

Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control.

 

Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in a timely and accurate fashion.

 

Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.

 

Automate tasks using shell scripts and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).

 

Manage server backup and disaster recovery processes.

 

Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.

 

Provide support for mission-critical systems and participate in on-call rotations.

 

Document internal processes and procedures.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

 

3+ years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration.

 

Strong knowledge of Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, or other Linux distributions. Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Python preferred).

 

Manage, configure, and troubleshoot web services such as Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, and HAProxy.

 

Familiar with tools like top, htop, netstat, iftop, strace, lsof, and other diagnostic utilities. 

 

Familiarity with virtualization and containerization (VMware, KVM, Docker).

 

Good understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, etc.). Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, etc.).

 

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.

 

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

 

Preferred Certifications:

Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) / Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
